WSJ Calls Us Out

In the Wall Street Journal today, the editorial board rightfully pointed out Michigan as a failure of progressive business climates.  In a state where tax burdens are higher than most, the motivational loss for most businesses and citizens is high.  Of course, this all can’t be blamed on Gov. Granholm, but surely the acts of the legislature (with her consent) did not harbor an era of prosperity.  Even with the auto industry imploding, Michigan's budget was seeing unforgiving times long before the Big Three received federal money.

Now is definitely the time for all around to look at Michigan as a testament to what happens when progressive ideals are implemented.  Detroit, as Mackinac Center intern Jarrett Skorup puts it “should be the shining city on the hill”.  Of course, this is not the case.  And as far as I’m concerned, with policies continuing down this path, it never will be. Perhaps the legislature can find more worthwhile ways to structure the budget.
